Joe’s interest in photography began in 8th grade when he was gifted a Nikon FM2 by his aunt, a fully manual camera that forced him to learn the technical side of the medium. Throughout high school and college, he continued working on his photography, eventually purchasing a Toyo View 4x5 camera in his senior year and focusing on landscapes and buildings. Initially working as a high school teacher after graduating, he decided to move on from teaching and into photography full time in his mid-20s.
Joe has been working as a commercial photographer since 2007 specializing in architecture and interior design. Since starting his business, he has worked with numerous architects, interior designers and construction managers in the greater Philadelphia and New York City areas, and he has traveled throughout the country for various projects. In 2019, Joe expanded his business into producing cinema backdrops for the TV and film industry, working on shows such as American Rust, The Other Two and The Wonder Years, to name a few. Although he initially worked as a vendor for another backdrop company, he and printer Berry and Homer started Precision backdrops in 2022.
My other half & I at (the real) Oktoberfest. Don't ask which tent, don't remember; keep in mind those are one liter steins of beer.
When he is not working, Joe enjoys traveling with his wife, who is a food photographer, and they have been throughout Europe, Australia, the Caribbean and the Middle East together. Being that he almost went to the culinary institute in Hyde Park, he is an avid home cook always looking to try new techniques, especially when it comes to french cuisine. Along with cooking, he also makes his own wine and does a fair bit of cycling to stay in shape.
